01Who I am
Odd Pixel is the studio name of Joel Cudmore, a freelance engineer based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. I run this site and I’m the person responsible for any personal information it collects. Questions, requests, or complaints go to hello@oddpixel.ca.
02The contact form
When you send a brief through the contact form, I receive:
- your name and email address (required);
- your company, project type, budget, timeline, and how you found me (if you fill them in);
- whatever you write in the brief.
That’s used for one thing: replying to you about your project. The form sends it straight to my business inbox as an email — it isn’t saved to a database on this site, added to a mailing list, or used for marketing. Prefer to skip the form? Email me directly; the same applies.
03Analytics & cookies
This site uses Google Analytics to understand which pages get read and where visitors come from. It sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*, which last up to two years) and reports things like the pages you view, the referring site, your device and browser type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Google Analytics doesn’t log or store your full IP address, and I can’t use it to identify you.
Those are the only cookies on the site. Fonts are self-hosted, there are no ad networks, social widgets, or embedded third-party players. To opt out, use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, block cookies for this site, or run a content blocker — the site works the same either way.
04Server logs & spam
Like most web servers, the one hosting this site records standard request details — IP address, browser, the page requested, and the time — for security and troubleshooting.
To keep the contact form free of bots, it checks how long the form was open before you hit send, and briefly holds your IP address in memory (for about ten minutes) to limit repeat submissions. If a submission is flagged as spam, its IP address is written to the server log.
05Who else handles it
A few service providers handle data on my behalf, and only to do their job:
- Resend — delivers contact form submissions to my inbox.
- Google — runs Google Analytics.
- My hosting provider and email provider — run the server and the inbox the briefs land in.
Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States, so your information may be processed outside Canada and be subject to the laws of those countries. I don’t sell, rent, or trade personal information, and I don’t share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
06How long I keep it
Briefs and the email threads that follow stay in my inbox while they’re useful for a current or potential project. If we work together, project correspondence is kept as long as Canadian law requires for business records. Otherwise, ask and it’s deleted.
Google Analytics data is kept for no more than 14 months, then deleted automatically. Server logs rotate on a short cycle.
07Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Email hello@oddpixel.ca and I’ll respond within 30 days. These rights come from British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act and Canada’s PIPEDA. If you’re in the EU or UK, you have equivalent rights under the GDPR.
If you’re not satisfied with how I handle a request, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the data-protection authority where you live.
08Links elsewhere
This site links out to places like GitHub, LinkedIn, and client sites. Once you leave, their privacy policies apply, not this one. The site isn’t aimed at children, and I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
09Changes
If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. Last updated .
